Contraceptives In Middle School

I think giving middle school students contraceptives is a good and bad decision. There are pluses because students need to know the basics on safe sex. They need to know what does what, what goes where, and how to use things correctly. This knowledge may help drive pregnancy to decline, but then we have to look at some of the negatives. For example we could see a sharp increase in stds, due to the fact contraceptives don’t always work, and stds, in some cases, can go undetected and show no symptoms for years. If I had a child I would not like them taking and using birth control without my knowledge, because its just not right. As a parent I wouldn’t condone my children having sex, but I would understand that it would happen sometime. I feel like sexual education should be taught early but i feel liek its best if parents did thier jobs and taught their kids about sex rather than having some one else do it for them. There should be education on sex full circle. Learning about it should start in the home and continue in the school.
